Afghanistan and Bangladesh qualified on the rankings, and Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Namibia, Oman, Uganda, Papua New Guinea, and Nepal came through the regional qualifiers.
The top two teams from each group advance to the Super 8s stage, where they qualify for the two semifinals and a final. The tournament will have no ties, but super overs will be played if the score is level after 20 overs. The winning side will receive two points, while the losing side will not. Group matches require a minimum of five overs per side, while semifinals and final will have 10 overs.
