2009 IPL Orange Cap Winner
Matthew Hayden
In 2009, another Australian player won the Orange Cap, but this time from Team CSK. Matthew Hayden, the renowned Australian opener, won the 2009 IPL Orange Cap by scoring 572 runs in just 12 innings across the tournament. Despite his recent retirement from test cricket prior to the tournament, he put up a great show in the 2009 IPL season and took his team to the semi-finals.
The 2010 IPL season is remembered for the “God of Cricket” Sachin Tendulkar. This season, the master blaster was in tremendous form, smashing 618 runs with a batting average of 47.53. Riding on the batting brilliance of Sachin Tendulkar, MI reached the final of the IPL that season but fell short against the CSK of MS Dhoni.
The Universe Boss Chris Gayle showed his hitting power in the 2011 IPL season. The West Indian Opener took RCB to the final of that tournament, where his team fell short of CSK. In the 2011 IPL, Chris Gayle smashed 608 in just 12 innings with a remarkable strike rate of 183.13. He was also named player of the tournament for the 2011 IPL season.
