The BCCI Selection Committee has announced India’s squad for the second Test against Bangladesh. The national selectors kept the same team for the second test in Kanpur that had defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test in Chennai.
Prior to the first game of the series, there were rumors that a few Indian players, particularly pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, might be rested for the second game as part of the team’s workload management plan.
But that has been proven wrong, and BCCI announced on Sunday that the same team will play the second test match of the Ind vs Ban test series 2024.
“The Men’s Selection Committee has retained the same squad for the second Test of the IDFC FIRST Bank Test series against Bangladesh,” the BCCI said in a statement.
Earlier, India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, had stated before the first test match with Bangladesh that they would go with the same process as they had during the recently concluded home Test series against England.
On the fourth day of the first Test, a powerful India destroyed Bangladesh by a significant margin of 280 runs to grab a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin capped an incredible all-around performance with a century and a six-wicket haul.
Bangladesh was bowled out for 234 in their second inning, failing to reach the unlikely target of 515. The majority of the damage in the second inning was caused by first-inning centurion Ashwin (6/88) at his home field in Chepauk.
