India National Cricket Team vs Netherlands National Cricket Team Timeline

The India national cricket team and the Netherlands national cricket team timeline- the Netherlands not represent one of the more talked about, or daily rivalries in most of the classic rivalries in cricket. However, these teams play each other, and their games in ODIs, are defining moments, especially for Dutch cricket, as they met with one of the most powerful cricketing teams in the world.

India and Netherlands have played almost entirely under the ICC umbrella. In fact, despite such little experience on the team’s part, it gave them the scope to test their skills against the best the world has to offer. Let’s dig a bit deeper into some of the key matches and great contests between the national teams of India and the Netherlands and see how this cricketing camaraderie flourished over time.

The Rise of Associate Cricket, 1966

Before that, the Dutch national cricket team was yet to take international exposure, and cricket in the Netherlands was flourishing at the associate level to cater for the growth of the game globally, away from the Test-playing countries. The Netherlands came out as one of the prominent cricket nations in Europe during the 1970s and 1980s. However, official matches between India and the Netherlands were not played before the ICC tournaments till the early 2000s.

Note:  Associate Cricket refers to the development and recognition of a non-Test cricket team, commonly referred to as Associates in international cricket.
