India’s innings in the 1983 Cricket World Cup Final is one of the most famous innings in cricket records. Batting first, India became in trouble at 17/5 while Kapil Dev came to the end. Dev proceeded to attain 175 runs, the best score by an Indian batsman in a World Cup final, and helped the Indian team to complete 183/8.

Dev’s innings was a masterclass in great batting. He shows bowling skills and scores many scores. He hit 16 fours and a number of sixes, and he in no way gave up even when India was in trouble.

Dev Innings prove a turning point. It gave India the belief that they may win, and it put the West Indies’ bowlers on the back foot. In the end, India won the match by means of 43 runs, and Dev was called player of the matches.

Thus, the world champion West Indies team collapsed for the most effective hundred and 40 runs and the cricket international got its 2nd new world champion in the form of India. This became the primary World Cup for the Indian team. India has completed 37 years of this excellent victory on 25 June 2020.

For India, Madan Lal and Mohinder Amarnath took 3 wickets each whilst Balwinder Sandhu took 2 and Kapil Dev and Roger Binny were given one wicket each. The essential wicket of Viv Richards was taken by Madan Lal who was caught by  Kapil Dev.

India’s victory became one of the largest upsets in cricket history, as West Indies had been the defending champions and was considered to be the favorites to win the tournament. India, on the other hand, was the underdog and was now not anticipated to win. There are some reasons why India’s victory was such a surprise.
