1. Rohit Sharma: 264 runs

It’s not surprising to see our very own hitman dominating the chart. Rohit Sharma is the first person holding the record for the highest individual score in ODI. He smashed 264 runs in 173 deliveries, which included 33 fours and 9 sixes, along with a strike rate of 152.60. This knock came against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens on 13 November 2014 during the 4th ODI of India’s Sri Lanka tour. 

2. Martin Guptill: 237* runs

The Right-hand Batsman of New Zealand, Martin Guptill is the second person in the list of most runs in an innings in ODIs. He took 163 balls to score 237 (not out) runs. He smashed 24 fours and 11 sixes in that knock, along with a strike rate of 145.39. This memorable knock came against West Indies at Wellington on 21 March 2015 during the 4th Quarter-Final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. 

3. Virender Sehwag: 219 runs

One of the greatest batsmen of his era, Virender Sehwag is the next person holding the record for the highest individual score in ODI. He has a record of securing 219 runs in 149 balls, including 25 fours and 7 sixes. With a strike rate of 146.97, he registered this record on 8 December 2011 at Indore against West Indies during the 4th ODI of the West Indies’ India tour.

4. Chris Gayle: 215 runs

How can the universal boss be not on the list of most runs in an innings in ODIs? The next player having set this record is none other than Chris Gayle. He played a knock of 215, in which he faced 147 balls. His knock included 10 fours and 16 sixes, which he hit with a strike rate of 146.25. This amazing knock came against Zimbabwe at Canberra on 24 February 2015 during the 15th Match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. 

5. Fakhar Zaman: 210* runs

The very famous Pakistani player, Fakhar Zaman is the next player holding the record for the highest individual score in ODI. He faced 156 balls and played an amazing knock of 210 (not out) runs. During the knock, he smashed 24 fours and 5 sixes, along with a strike rate of 134.61. The Outstanding knock came at Bulawayo on 20 July 2018 against Zimbabwe during the 4th ODI of the Pakistan tour of Zimbabwe. 

6. Pathum Nissanka: 210* runs

Pathum Nissanka, the very famous Sri Lankan player is another name on the list of most runs in an innings in ODIs. He secured 210 (not out) runs in 139 deliveries, including 20 fours, 8 sixes, and a strike rate of 151.07. He played this amazing knock against Afghanistan on 9 February 2024 at Pallekele during the 1st ODI of the Afghanistan tour of Sri Lanka. 

7. Ishan Kishan: 210 runs

Who can forget this knock? It was a brilliant performance by none other than, Ishan Kishan. He smashed 24 fours and 10 sixes to hit his highest individual score in ODI at 210 runs in 131 balls. He secured this score with a strike rate of 160.30 against Bangladesh on 10 December 2022 at Chattogram during the 3rd ODI of the India tour of Bangladesh 2022. 

8. Rohit Sharma: 209 runs

Rohit Sharma, our very own Hitman, has appeared again on the list of most runs in an innings in ODIs. Showcasing his dominance and justifying the title of “Hitman”, he secured his second-highest ODI runs of 209 in 158 deliveries. His boundaries included 12 fours and 16 sixes. With a strike rate of 132.27, he played this knock against Australia on 2 November 2013 at Bengaluru during the 7th ODI of Australia’s India tour.

9. Rohit Sharma: 208* runs

An unreal dominance by the Hitman, the next person holding the record for the highest individual score in ODI is again Rohit Sharma. This knock came against Sri Lanka on 13 December 2017 at Mohali. During the 2nd ODI of the Sri Lanka tour of India, he hit his third-highest ODI score of 208 (not out) in 153 deliveries, including 13 fours and 12 sixes, along with a strike rate of 135.94. 

10. Shubman Gill: 208 runs

The “Prince of Cricket”, Shubman Gill is another name holding the record for most runs in an inning in ODIs. His memorable knock includes 208 runs in 149 deliveries, with 19 fours, 9 sixes, and a strike rate of 139.59. He played this knock against New Zealand on 18 January 2023 at Hyderabad during the 1st ODI of the New Zealand tour of India.
