Rohit Sharma Drops Hint to Send Rahul Back in Middle Order in Brisbane Test

According to the latest reports from Australia regarding BGT 2024-25, Rohit Sharma could open the batting for the visitors in the third Test against Australia at The Gabba. In the second test in Adelaide, the skipper came to bat at number six, where he struggled with the bat, scoring only nine runs over two innings.

The rumors came after India’s most recent practice session, which hinted at Rohit Sharma’s return to the top order. According to a news article in the Times of India on the related topic, Rohit Sharma faced India’s pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep, honing his skills against the new ball.

It’s worth noting that Rohit hadn’t faced the new ball bowlers during the preparation for the second Test in Adelaide. This is why cricket experts are speculating that Rohit will bat in his usual opening position, with KL Rahul losing his place in the top order and going back to his number six role.

If Rohit Sharma returns to the opening spot, he will open with the dashing southpaw Yashasvi Jaiswal, and these two are India’s sixth most successful Test opening pair, with a fantastic record.

On the other hand, Rahul will have to bat in the lower middle order, which he has to get accustomed to. The elegant Karnataka batsman is used to batting in the top order, especially opening in the early stages of his career, where he was quite successful. But after his changed role in the team in the latter stages of his career, Rahul hadn’t done what he was expected to.
