IPL 2025 Fixtures Announced: IPL Set To Begin On March 21, WPL To Start From February 7

BCCI announced the IPL 2025 fixture, with Eden Garden as a significant venue for the opening and final match.

Indian Premier League 2025 is set to kick off on March 21, with the first and the last match to be held in Eden Garden, Kolkata. Additionally, the Women’s Premier League 2025 will be held between February 7 and March 2.

In an unprecedented move ahead of the auction of IPL on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, IPL had shared the windows for the next three seasons (2025-2027) with the Franchise, according to which, for 2025, the window was between March 15 and May 25. Despite that, the 2025 Champions Trophy final is scheduled for March 9, and the IPL decided to keep a two-week gap between the tournaments.

As usual, the home ground of the defending champions will host the opening and final match, which is Eden Garden for this season, the home venue of Kolkata Knight Riders who won the IPL the previous year. While Eden Garden will host Qualifier 2 as well, Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be played in Hyderabad.

The season 2025 will have 74 matches, like the last three seasons. But, there are 10 matches less than the season 2022 which had 84 matches. After the IPL’s 2022 media rights tender for the 2023-2027 cycle, the number of matches is reduced to 74. The tender listed 47 games for 2023 and 2024, 84 games for 2025 and 2026, and around 94 games for the 2027 season.

Shortlisted Venues for WPL

Previously, Mumbai and Bengaluru hosted WPL matches, along with which the WPL matches will be held in Lucknow and Baroda as well as announced by the BCCI. WPL schedule is yet to be announced, however as per the reports by ESPNcricinfo, the WPL season 2025 is set to begin on February 7.
