The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially confirmed the venues for the IPL 2025 playoffs, with Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium set to host the grand final on June 3. The stadium will also be the venue for Qualifier 2 on June 1. Meanwhile, New Chandigarh will host the first two playoff encounters—Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator—on May 29 and 30, respectively.
The changes come following a one-week suspension of the tournament that forced a reshuffling of the schedule. Originally, Hyderabad and Kolkata were slated to host the playoff fixtures, but due to revised logistics and concerns around the approaching monsoon season, the IPL Governing Council opted for alternative venues better suited to weather and operational requirements.
Adding to the list of adjustments, the high-stakes May 23 league match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad has been moved from Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium to Lucknow. This decision follows the recent washout of the RCB vs KKR match at the same venue, which was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.
“The new venues for the playoffs were decided by the IPL Governing Council, keeping in mind the weather conditions and other parameters,” the BCCI said in an official statement. The board also announced that an additional hour will be allocated to the playing conditions for the remaining league stage matches, starting May 20.
