Kl Rahul rejects the retention offer of the Lucknow Super Giants to go in the IPL mega auction. According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, KL Rahul is not sure about his decision to stay in LSG. Before this report, a news report was circulating in the market that Rahul might be axed from Lucknow’s retained player list, and this decision was made by LSG’s head coach Justin Langer and Mentor Zaheer Khan.
As a result of this rumor, Rahul may have decided to leave LSG. Recently, Rahul met with the LSG’s owners, and in the outcome of this meeting, he didn’t get assurance that he would be retained by the franchisee or not.
KL Rahul’s impact on the game has reduced since the 2019 IPL. According to a Times of India report, LSG’s mentor Zaheer Khan and head coach Langer concluded by analyzing data that Rahul staying at the crease for a longer time hurt the LSG’s winning chances.
Rahul’s strike rate has been a concerning factor for LSG’s backroom staff, as he hasn’t scored with a strike rate of 140 in the IPL since the 2019 season; 2023 was his worst season in terms of this, where he had a strike rate of just 113.
LSG’s top three retention choices are young pace sensations Mayank Yadav, Nicholas Pooran, and Quinton de Cock.
If Rahul enters this year’s IPL, he might be one of the biggest names in the auction pool that can attract buyers with record-breaking amounts.
England made just these two additions to their already announced white ball squad for the Caribbean tour.
