Cricket South Africa has Named the Squad for the White-ball Series Against Afghanistan and Ireland

South Africa has chosen the teams for their white-ball series against Ireland and Afghanistan in UAE. The White Ball series against Afghanistan and Ireland will take place in September and October. The Proteas white-ball head coach Rob Walter has revealed the squad for the white-ball tour of the United Arab Emirates on Monday. The ODI series against Afghanistan will be followed by T20Is and ODIs against Ireland.

All-arounder Andile Simelane, who was recently included in both the Emerging and “A” teams, has received his first international call-up and will be included in all three squads. Furthermore, after being included in the 50-over team, spinner Nqaba Peter and all-rounder Jason Smith—both of whom have previously been capped in T20Is—are expected to make their ODI debuts.

The inclusion of fast bowler Lungi Ngidi in all three squads, having fully recovered from an injury to his right calf, has given the Proteas a major boost. Since last November, Ngidi has only played in two Test matches and two T20I matches. This year, he was a reserve for South Africa in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup team, although he did not participate in any matches.

Aiden Markram will captain the team in the T20 Internationals, while Temba Bavuma will captain the ODI squads for the Afghanistan and Ireland series. In advance of the first game of the series on September 18, the ODI team that is scheduled to play Afghanistan will travel to the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, September 14.
