Australia Announced T20I Squad for Series Against Pakistan(Captain Yet to Be Named)

Cricket Australia has announced the T20I squad for the Pakistan Series on Monday, 28 October. However, CA has not announced the captain’s name to lead Australia in this series. With all Test players rested before facing India, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, and Spencer Johnson returned to the Australian T20I side against Pakistan.

Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, Australia’s most recent T20I captains, are unavailable, as is Pat Cummins. Glenn Maxwell, Adam Zampa, Matthew Short, Ellis, and Aaron Hardie have all captained in the BBL, while Josh Inglis is a strong contender owing to his leadership and tactical skill as Perth Scorchers vice-captain.

Bartlett, Ellis, and Johnson have all returned from injury following a grueling tour of England. Johnson returned to domestic cricket after recovering from injury.

Bartlett, who was struggling with side strain, and Ellis, who has hamstring issues, have taken longer to recuperate but are anticipated to be ready for the three-game series, which begins on November 14.

There were no surprising names in the 13-man squad, which was quite similar to the group that toured England in September. Maxwell returns to the squad after resting throughout the T20I leg of the trip. Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk are ready to begin the batting.

With the series wrapping up just four days before the first Test against India in Perth, none of the top Test players were available. Marsh and Head will also miss the ODI series while on paternity leave.

Australia will also have a new coaching staff for the T20I series, with head coach Andrew McDonald, batting coach Michael Di Venuto, and bowling coach Daniel Vettori taking a short holiday before joining the preparations in Perth for the first test against India.

Andre Borovec–the assistant coach for Australia’s five-match T20I series against India last October, will take charge of the series against Pakistan. Brad Hodge is also expected to join the team as an assistant coach after touring with the T20 World Cup squad as a coaching consultant in June. Matthew Wade, who recently retired from international cricket and captained Australia’s T20I team in February, is also expected to join the squad as a coach.
