There are a total of eight teams both for women’s and men’s versions, and a total of 64 league matches are played 32 each in the men’s and women’s versions.
The eight teams are located in major cities across England and Wales. Each team will play against each other at least once, and twice with an opponent that will be their regional rival. It means each team has to play a total of 8 matches in the league stage, 4 matches at home and 4 away from home.
What makes The Hundred Tournament Special?

Rules and Regulations of the Hundred Cricket Tournament
As you know each team will have a maximum of 100 balls to play during an innings which you may already know. Apart from that there are other rules:
- Change of ends after every 10 balls similar to other cricket formats, where ends are changed after the completion of 6 legal deliveries.
- An over in this format consists of 5 legal deliveries; however, a bowler can bowl two consecutive overs, which is not allowed in other cricket formats.
- Each bowler can bowl a maximum of 20 balls per inning.
- There is a powerplay of the first 25 balls for each team and during the powerplay, the bowling team can keep a maximum of two players outside the 30-yeard circle.
- Each bowling side can take one strategic time-out of two and a half minutes for preparing strategies during the match according to the situation of the match.
- For every no-ball being bowled, two runs are added to the batting team’s score and a free hit is also awarded.
- Like other limited-over cricket formats, slow over-rates are penalized in this format too as only one fielder will be allowed outside the ring for the final over.
- In rain-curtailed matches, the team batting second should have batted for a minimum of 25 balls to declare a winner between the two based on the Duckworth Lewis (DLS) method.
- For every win, two points are awarded to the winning team while in case of a tie or no result; one point is awarded to each team.
- In knockout stages, if a match is tied and one team needs to be declared a winner, a “Super 5” will be played, where each team plays five balls and the team scoring the most runs between the two is declared the winner, and if the “Super 5” will also get tied, the process will continue until there is a winner.
