DC Edge RR in Thrilling Super Over Finish at Delhi

In a match that had all the ingredients of an IPL classic, Delhi Capitals (DC) held their nerve to snatch a sensational win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) via Super Over at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. With 9 runs to win off the final over and 6 wickets in hand, RR looked to be on their way home. But Mitchell Starc all of a sudden flipped it completely on its head, and bowled an extraordinary final over, full of blazing yorkers to tie the scores and take the game to a Super Over.

Starc’s turnaround was as astounding as it was unexpected. Having been belted earlier in the innings – with Yashasvi Jaiswal hitting him for 4, 6, 4 – he came back with fire in his final over. Dhruv Jurel’s inability to hit 2 runs off the last ball pushed the game to Super Over.

RR’s innings fell apart in the one-over eliminator. They could only manage 12 runs, with both Riyan Parag and Jaiswal’s sideshows run-outs. In response, DC made light work of the chase, with Tristan Stubbs sealing the victory off just 4 balls. This was surely DC’s 5th win out of 6, to place them at the top of the table.

Stubbs was the hero on both ends of the innings, smashing a vital unbeaten 34 off 18 in regular play and finishing the game in style in the Super Over. He also produced a crucial fielding effort in the 20th over, restricting a possible two runs with a pinpoint throw.

RR had their moments — Jaiswal (51) and Nitish Rana (51) gave them a strong platform, but the middle-order collapse and poor execution in key moments, like Sandeep Sharma’s 11-ball over that included four wides and a no-ball, proved costly.

Earlier, DC’s innings was anchored by Abishek Porel’s 49 and KL Rahul’s 38, with a late flourish from Axar Patel and Stubbs lifting the team to 188. Starc’s redemption, combined with DC’s death-over heroics and RR’s strategic missteps — including the puzzling Super Over batting order — ensured this game will be remembered as one of the season’s most thrilling finishes.
