After defeating India in the fourth Test, Australia has registered its final win against India in the final and fifth Test of BGT 2023-24. India lost the Border-Gavaskar trophy after 10 years on Day 3 of SCG, with a six-wicket loss to the Kangaroos. Australia chased down 162 runs, thanks to Usman Khawaja who played a 41-run innings, Travis Head (34 not out), and debutant Beau Webster (39 not out). On day three, India resumed playing at 141 for six and lost 4 wickets for 16 runs, being wrapped up at 157 in their second innings.
Pat Cummins and Scott Boland displayed marvelous gameplay, sharing 9 wickets in the second innings of India. Boland secured six wickets in the second innings. While India won the first Test in Perth, Australia emerged stronger in the second Test, defeating India in Adelaide. The third Test in Brisbane concluded in a draw thanks to Raingods. Aussies won the final two Tests in Melbourne and Sydney to claim their place in the WTC final.
