Australia vs India Match Scorecard, 1st Test, Perth, 22-25 November 2024

India decimated Australia by 295 runs in the 1st Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth. This is their second highest overseas win in terms of runs and also the second highest win against the Aus all time. On the bouncy track India chose to bat after winning the toss, and after the first inning, Indian Skipper Jasprit Bumrah  looked like a blunder as India innings was folded on just 150. But Bumrah and co. showed India had scored enough runs after dismissing Australia on just 104, on a track where fast bowlers were rattling through the batting lineups.

India got a substantial lead of 46 runs based on the 1st inning, which seemed like a huge one given the nature of the pitch. However, Indian batters changed the course of the game in the second innings and taken the game away that the 46-run lead, which seemed a huge asset, proved to be nothing, just a mere margin of 46 runs.

In the second innings, India batted brilliantly with Jaiswal and Kohli scoring centuries apiece. After Jaiswal and Rahul breath taking opening partnership the onus was on to middle order especially out of form Kohli. However King kohli silenced the critics with undefeated hundred showing great determination to stay on the crease and accelerated when it was needed.

India declared its second inning on 487/6, setting an impossible target of 533 for Australia. Bumrah and Co. again wreaked havoc on the Australian batting line-up. Only Head showed some resistance as he scored strokeful 89 runs against a ruthless Indian attack; after Travis got out, India wrapped up Australia quickly on 238 to register a record win of 295 runs in Perth.
