Mohammed Shami Won’t Travel to Australia For the Remaining Two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, BCCI Has Not Deemed Him Fit!

Indian speedster Mohammed Shami will not play in the Border-Gavaskar series, due to a minor swelling in his left knee.

The BCCI provided an official update on Shami’s fitness after closely monitoring him, the medical team at the Center of Excellence has closely monitored Shami on his recovery after his high heel surgery. Shami remained the hot topic throughout the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the hope that Shami will recover soon and be part of the Australia Tests.

Rohit Sharma Indian Cricket Team Captain was asked third time in a month about Shami’s status, he claimed that “it was high time that the National Cricket Academy (NCA) provided an update on India quickly.”

“Shami bowled 43 overs in the Ranji Trophy match for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh in November, Following this, he played in all nine games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he also engaged in additional bowling sessions on the sidelines to build his bowling volume to get ready for the Test matches.” the BCCI said in a statement.

Due to an increase in joint loading from bowling workload, his left knee exhibited minor swelling. According to the current medical statement, his knee requires more time to recover. Considering he is not deemed fit to play Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The Indian fast bowler’s last appearance for the team came in the ICC ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad in 2023, Shami’s fitness has always been a major subject of debate, this time, his knees prevailed over him.
