1. Mahela Jayawardene – 218 catches

Mahela Jayawardene is a notable fielder in ODI cricket, and he holds the record of taking more than 200 catches in ODI cricket. He has 12650 runs to his name in ODIs in 448 innings and is one of the leading run-getters in the history of the game. But speaking about his fielding, Jayawardene picked up 218 catches throughout his ODI career.

2. Ricky Ponting – 160 catches

Besides the batting mainstay and captain of Aus, Australia’s Ricky Ponting shines in his fielding ability and is only the second player to have taken the most catches in ODI cricket. He has scored more than 13000 runs in both Tests and ODI and won four ICC titles as a captain. He is the legend of the Australian cricket team. Ponting has taken 160 catches from 375 ODI matches. 

3. Mohammad Azharuddin – 156 catches

Former Indian cricketer, Mohammad Azharuddin has taken the most catches for India in ODI cricket and the third player has taken the most ODI catches among international players. With over 9000 runs, Azharuddin was one of the best ODI players in the 90s. Overall, he has taken 156 catches from 334 ODI matches of his career.

4. Virat Kohli – 152 catches

Virat Kohli is the only active cricketing player to have taken the most number of catches in ODI cricket. He is one of the best ODI players for India scoring over 13000 runs with a record 50 centuries in this format. Virat Kohli, other than being a great batsman, is also known for his agility on the field & presence of mind. He took 152 catches in ODI matches.

5. Ross Taylor – 142 catches

Ross Taylor ended his career as New Zealand’s all-time highest run-scorer in ODI cricket. The ex-cricketer scored 8607 runs from 236 matches for Kiwis in ODIs. He is also the fifth man on the list to hold the most catches in ODI cricket. Taylor took 142 catches during his ODI career while playing for New Zealand.

6. Sachin Tendulkar – 140 catches

Sachin Tendulkar: The batting legend has broken many records in his cricketing career. He is the all-time highest run-scorer across the formats and was the only cricketer having 100 international 

centuries of which 51 were in Tests and 49 in ODIs. He took 140 catches from 463 matches in his career.

7. Stephen Fleming – 133 catches

One of the legends of New Zealand, Stephen Fleming has achieved many milestones in cricket. He remains the first New Zealand batter who crossed 7000 runs in Test cricket and only the second batter to surpass 8000 ODI runs for the Black Caps. He took 133 catches in his career from 280 ODI matches and became the seventh player to take the most catches in ODI cricket history.

8. Jacques Kallis – 131 catches

Jacques Kallis is the greatest all-rounder in cricket amazing with both bat and ball. The South African cricketer is pretty spectacular with his catching ability throughout his career. Kallis has caught 131 in 328 ODI matches.

9. Younis Khan – 130 catches

Younis Khan is one of the dependable batsmen and the most successful captain of the Pakistan cricket team. Under his captaincy, Pakistan lifted its first T20 World Cup victory in 2009. Younis Khan also had the best pair of hands having snapped up 130 catches from 265 matches in ODI history. 

10. Muttiah Muralitharan – 130 catches

Former Sri Lanka spinner, Muttiah Muralitharan is the ODI format’s best bowler and holds the record for all-time highest wicket-taker in ODI cricket with 534 scalps. He is also among the 10 cricketers who have taken the most catches in the 50-over format. Muralitharan has caught 130 scalps from 350 matches in his ODI career.

11. Allan Border – 127 catches

Allan Border one of the best Australian cricketers; he did it all with his elegant cricketing career from 1979 to 1994. Throughout 273 One Day Internationals, he proved himself a very skilled batsman and a consistent fielder, taking 127 catches in 270 innings. Known for leadership and tenacious style, Border is the talk of the town, really being the right man at the right place at the correct time in Australian cricketing history and one of the iconic greats of Aus.
