Fastest Century in T20 International: Players With The Fastest Centuries (2005-2024)

It is an international cricket event, T20I, initially introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board, ECB. The ICC awards T20I status to two teams which compete against each other. T20 International consists of 16 teams and is a limited-over format match with a maximum of 20 overs. The fastest century in T20 International by Sahil Chauhan of Estonian has been created on 17th June 2024 against Cyprus and is quite remarkable when hit in 27 balls.

Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Kushal Malla, David Miller, Rohit Sharma, and Sudesh Wickramasekara have all shared the fastest to an all-time T20I century. Three of them have hit a hundred off 35 balls only in T20I. Chris Gayle was the first man from any nation to hit a century in the T20I format against South Africa at the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 in 2007.

Fastest Century In T20 International: Top 10 Players

1. Sahil Chauhan (27 balls):

Indian-born Sahil Chauhan smashed a 27-ball ton for Estonia while playing against Cyprus in a T20I that is now regarded as the fastest-ever T20I hundred. Estonia, bowling first, conceded 191 runs to Cyprus at Episkopi. Chasing that, Estonia lost quick wickets. However, Sahil Chauhan single-handedly took his side to win as he smashed a 27-ball ton and then concluded his innings at 144 off 41 deliveries which included six fours and a record 18 sixes.

2. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton (33 Balls):

History was created when Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton registered his name in the record books for the fastest century in T20 internationals by surpassing Nepal’s Kushal Malla, who smashed a 33-ball ton against Nepal. He did it on February 27, 2024, in Kirtipur; this lovable South African batted at a striking pace of 101 off 36 balls along with 11 fours and 8 sixes before getting dismissed. This was the first time he crossed the 50-run mark in the shortest format and made it big. Jan completed his fifty off 18 balls and the next 50 runs in 15 balls.

3. Kushal Malla (34 Balls) :

Nepal’s superstar Kushal Malla had the record for the fastest T20I hundred until Namibia’s Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton broke it. He scored a 34-ball century against Mongolia in the opening match of the men’s T20I competition at the Asian Games 2023. Malla made 137 saves from 50 balls, with 12 sixes and 8 fours at a strike rate of 274. Nepal posted the highest T20I total of 314/3 and then was dismissed The highest victory in T20I was for 41 runs when they defeated Mongolia by 273 runs.

4. David Miller (35 Balls) :

He was the first batter to score a 35-ball ton in a T20I game. Against Bangladesh at Potchefstroom in October 2017, the total South Africa managed was 224/4 in 20 overs. Miller remained unbeaten on 101 off 36 balls with seven fours and nine sixes. Bangladesh got all out for just 141 runs and lost the game by 83 runs.

5. Rohit Sharma (35 Balls) :

The swiftness of Rohit Sharma, who became the first Indian to hammer a T20I hundred in just 35 balls against Sri Lanka at Holkar Stadium in Indore. Also, it remains the joint second-fastest hundred in T20Is. Rohit hammered 118 runs off 43 balls with 12 fours and 10 sixes. India registered their highest T20I total of 260/5 and then sent back Sri Lanka for 172 runs, winning by a margin of 88.

6. Sudesh Wickramasekara (35 Balls) :

Sudesh Wickramasekara slammed a 35-ball hundred for the Czech Republic and remained not out with an impressive 104 off 36 balls, comprising 8 fours and 10 sixes as The Czech Republic achieved the joint-second-highest T20I total of 278/4 in a game against Turkey in the Continental Cup at Ilfov County in August 2019. It was a bad day at work for Turkey as they folded for just 21 runs and lost by a margin of 257 runs.

7. Sivakumar Periyalwar (39 Balls) :

Another first in history, Sivakumar Periyalwar became the first batter to score a 39-ball T20I hundred. He scored his hundred against Turkey in Ilfov County during the Continental Cup held back in August last year. Romania had placed 226/6 in 20 overs while Sivakumar scored 105* runs off 40 balls, including 12 fours and six sixes. Turkey then got all out at 53 runs and took a defeat by 173 runs.

8. Zeeshan Kukikhel (39 Balls) :

It is quite thrilling to see such a contest from the new emerging teams as it brings out some scintillating performances. Just like in a match between Austria and Hungary in June 2022, when Zeeshan Kukikhel brings up a 39-ball ton for Hungary. A 196/6 in the first innings by Austria was chased down by Hungary in 19 overs to win the game by four wickets. Opening the innings for his team, Zeeshan batted through the entire 39-ball over, scoring a century with 137 runs on 49 balls, while hitting 7 fours and 15 sixes in the game.

9. Johnson Charles (39 Balls) :

West Indian opening batsman Johnson Charles has made the fastest hundred for his team in T20I. He plundered a 39-ball century against South Africa in Centurion in March 2023 and scored 118 off 46 balls with 10 fours and 11 sixes. West Indies 258/5 were not enough, since South Africa was close to winning the game as they chased 259/4 in 18.5 overs.

10. Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming (40 Balls) :

The second batter from Japan scored a hundred using 40 balls in T20I. Instead, Japan’s skipper Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming ensured his team chased down a total at Sano on October 22 while playing the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Region Qualifier B. In the first innings, Japan showed a big total of 218/8. Fleming made his hundred off 40 balls. And with ten fours and ten sixes, he scored 114 off 46 balls.
