West Indies Tour of Sri Lanka 2024: Sri Lanka Named a 17-member T20I Squad

Former Sri Lanka Dasun Shanaka skipper was ignored as Sri Lanka Cricket named the T20I squad for the forthcoming T20I Series against West Indies. The entire squad is the same that played in the T20I series against India in July, except for Dushmantha Chameera and Shanaka.

The noticeable included names are Bhanuka Rajapaksa, a middle-order batsman, who was called up to the team for the first time since January 2023, and Jafferey Vandesay, who reignited his international career during the ODI series against India in August.

Charith Asalanka will captain the squad with former skipper Wanindu Hasaranga, who stepped down after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and will head a formidable spin assault that includes Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Dunith Wellalage. Vandersay will play his first T20I in almost two years.

The series begins on October 13, followed by matches on October 15 and 17, with Dambulla hosting all three games.
