Following his outstanding performance against India in all three T20Is, Adil Rashid has regained the top position in the ICC Men’s Bowling Ranking, while Varun Chakravarthy climbs up to the fifth position and Tilak Varma closed in on Australia’s Travis Head for the No.1 position in T20I batting rankings.
Helping to keep the series alive, England’s veteran legspinner Adil Rashid has jumped to the first position in the ICC Men’s T20I bowling ranking. Rashid starred with frugal figures of 1 wicket for 27 runs in the first T20I, 1 wicket for 14 runs in the second T20I, and finally 1 wicket for 15 runs in the third T20I – which helped England to win the game by 26 runs, indeed. Rashid had taken the No. 1 ranking at the end of 2023 for a year until he was displaced by Akeal Hosein just before Christmas 2024.
Varun Chakravarthy, who took 3 wickets in the first T20I, 2 wickets in the second T20I, and finally the fifer in the third T20I on Tuesday, jumped to fifth position among the T20I bowlers. While Jofra Archer climbed one spot behind Varun Chakravarthy after taking 2 wickets in the first T20I, 1 wicket in the second T20I, and 2 wickets in the third T20I, i.e., a total of 5 wickets in three T20Is.
Arshdeep Singh, who took 2 wickets in the first T20I, and 1 wicket in the second T20I, and was rested for the third T20I, retained his ninth spot. Ravi Bishnoi, who took just 1 wicket in three T20Is, that too in the third one, slipped from 5th to 9th position. Axar Patel, who took 2 wickets in the first T20I, 2 wickets in the second T20I, and 1 wicket in the third T20I, jumped five spots to the 11th position.
Among the T20I batsmen, Tilak Varma moved closer to Travis Head by jumping from third position to second with scores of 18, 72*, and 19* so far in the series – Head still leads by 23 points, though. Anticipatedly, if Tilak manages to overtake Head with good scores in the remaining two matches while Head plays a test series in Sri Lanka, he will become the youngest player to top the ranking. However, Abhishek Sharma went up as many as 59 places but is still ranked 40th.
