Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, And Dane Paterson Nominated For ICC Men’s Players Of The Month “December” 2024

Japrit Bumrah and Pat Cummins are nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for December 2024 for their remarkable performance in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday unveiled the nominees for the Player of the Month Award for December 2024. The list includes star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah (India), Australian skipper Pat Cummins (Australia), and South African right-arm seamer Dane Paterson.

Jasper Bumrah showcased his best performance during the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, which also bagged him the ‘Player of the Series’ award. Bumrah claimed 22 wickets in three Tests in December at a staggering average of 14.22. The 31-year-old pacer finished with 9 wickets in Brisbane at Gabba and Melbourne at MCG, thanks to which India remained in competition throughout the series

Bumrah’s extraordinary spells also earned him the highest rating points ever achieved by an Indian fast bowler in the ICC Test Player Rankings.

Meanwhile, Pat Cummins, who led the Australian Cricket Team against India in the BGT series by 3-1 is giving tough competition to Bumrah for the award. In 3 tests Cummins played in December, he claimed 17 wickets at an average of 17.64. With his batting exploits, Cummins scored crucial 49 and 41 runs in Melbourne. The Australian pacer also picked up 6 wickets in the match, grabbing Australia another win.

The 31-year-old displayed his best bowling execution in Adelaide when his 5-wicket haul for 57 in the second innings helped the hosts to secure a historic 10-wicket victory.

Dane Paterson’s 13 wickets across two Tests at an average of 16.92 helped South Africa to qualify for their maiden World Test Championship Final. His abundant bowling figures of 5/71 against Sri Lanka and 5/61 against Pakistan played a key role in the Proteas’ victories, sealing their top position in the WTC points table.

On the other hand, India’s dynamic left-handed batter Smriti Mandhana, Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland, and South African left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba are the nominees for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for December 2024.
