Virat Kohli and Paddikal Masterclass Earns RCB an Easy 7-Wicket Win Over Punjab

The second match of the IPL 2025 between PBKS vs RCB took place on 20 April 2025. In the game, RCB chase the 158-run target of PBKS (157/6) within just 18 overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore displayed their split personality in the IPL 2025 with another away win. They comfortably defeated the Punjab Kings by 7 wickets, returning to the fourth position in the points table

PBKS Batting in First Innings

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and chose to field first. Invited for batting, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh were the opening batsmen of PBKS. Priyansh Arya scored 22 (15), while Prabhsimran scored 33 (17), giving PBKS a decent start to the game. 

The captain of PBKS, Shreyas Iyer, Nehal Wadhera, and Marcus Stoinis were the lowest-scoring batsmen in the match. However, Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen made their best efforts to stretch the game. Shashank Singh made 31 runs in 33 balls, while Marco Jansen scored 25 runs in 20 balls. 

Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh became the best batters of Punjab Kings, helping the team set the target of 158 runs for RCB. 

RCB Smooth Run Chase

By winning the toss, opting to bowl first, RCB executed their game strategy to perfection. They delivered a clinical all-around performance to the PBKS in Mullanpur. Spinners Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma claimed four wickets for PBKS in eight overs for just 50 runs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood bowled excellently in the death overs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore were in top form with their batting duo of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. Kohli remained unbeaten on hitting 73 runs from 54 balls, whereas Paddikkal’s bat was also on fire with 61 runs from 35 balls. 

Phil Salt, opening batsman with Kohli, was dismissed in the first over by Arshdeep Singh. Jitesh Sharma played in the end, who was not out with 11 runs from 8 balls. Both Kohli and Padikkal hit a half-century, letting RCB stand in the fourth position in the points table by scoring 159/3 in just 18.5 overs. 

With a win over Punjab on Away turf, now RCB will play their next IPL match against RR on 24th April, 2025, meanwhile, PBKS has to play against KKR on 26th April, 2025.
