BCCI Released Dates for the Next Three IPL Seasons; IPL 2025 to Start from March 14

This morning, in an unpredictable move, the BCCI released the dates for IPL 2025 and the upcoming two IPL seasons. According to the information released by the BCCI, the IPL 2025 will kickstart on March 14, and the final of the 2025 IPL will be played on May 25. The 2026 IPL is scheduled from March 15 to May 31, and the 2027 IPL will be played from March 14 to May 30.

According to an article by ESPNcricinfo, the IPL referred to the tournament dates as “windows,” although these are likely to be the final dates. The 2025 season will have 74 matches, which is the same like the previous three seasons. However, this figure is ten fewer than the 84 matches the IPL announced in 2022 when they sold the television rights for the 2023-27 cycle.

The BCCI listed a varied amount of matches every season in the bidding document for the new rights cycle, ranging from 74 games in 2023 and 2024 to 84 games in 2025 and 2026, with a maximum of 94 games in the final year of the deal in 2027.
