Guwahati will host its first-ever Test match as it will host the second Test match between India and South Africa in November.
On Wednesday, the fixtures for India’s home series schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 season were announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). India’s home season will begin with a 2-match Test series against the West Indies, kicking off on 2nd October 2025, in Ahmedabad. The second and final Test of the IDFC First Bank Test series against the West Indies will be held in Kolkata from 10th to 14th October. These games are significant for India’s Test championship campaign, as they try to perform well against the Caribbean team at home.
The Indian men’s cricket team started 2025 by playing the last Test match of their World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for 2023-25 against Australia in Sydney. India’s first home series included England, with five T20 matches and three one-day internationals starting on January 22.
From March to May, the Indian cricketers are occupied with IPL 2025, with no international fixtures scheduled during this period. India’s WTC 2025-2027 campaign will commence with a five-match Test series in England in June.
Following the Test series with the West Indies, India will welcome South Africa for a multi-purpose contest. India will play a Test series against South Africa, beginning on 14 November in New Delhi, followed by the second Test in Guwahati. Guwahati will host its first-ever Test match in the Barsapara Cricket Stadium from 22 November.
Following this, India and South Africa will play a three-match ODI series, trailed by a five-match T20I series in December.
ODIs will be played in Ranchi, Raipur, and Vizag from 30 November to 6 December, before the attention shifts to Cuttack, Chandigarh, Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad for T20Is from 9 December to 19 December.
India and the West Indies last confronted in a Test Series in July 2023, where India won the series 1-0.
Since India’s tour of South Africa in December and January 2023-2024, the two nations will be playing the all-format contest for the first time. Meanwhile, the Men in Blue and the Proteas also faced off in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Final, where Rohit Sharma and Co. took the trophy home after 17 years.
