Bangladesh Squad for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Nigar Sultana Joty will lead a spin-heavy unit in UAE

Bangladesh has announced its squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be led by Nigar Sultana Joty.

With a 15-member squad that includes multiple left- and right-hand, off-break, and leg-break options, Joty will be leading a team that is loaded with spin options. Nahida Akter will be leading this spin attack, and Shorna Akter, Rabeya, Sultana Khatun, and Fahima Khatun will be assisting her in creating a spin web around opponents.

On the other hand, fast bowling duties will be fulfilled by Marufa Akter, Jahanara Alam, Mst. Ritu Moni, and Sobhana Mostary.

One notable absence from the team is the experienced campaigner Rumana Ahmed. In addition to her, Rubey Haider, Sharifa Khatun, Sabikun Nahar, and Ishma Tanjim, who were part of Bangladesh’s 2024 Asia Cup squad, did not make the T20 World Cup team.

In this T20 World Cup (host), Bangladesh is placed in Group B with England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Scotland, and they will kickstart their campaign against Scotland in Sharjah on 3 October.

Bangladesh, who made their Women’s T20 World Cup debut in the 2014 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, has never made it out of the round-robin games of this mega event.
