ICC Ranking Updates: Shubham Gill and Maheesh Theekshana Mount ODI Ranking Charts

On February 19th, ICC updated its rankings. In the freshly updated ranking charts, the Asian continent dominates as Shubhan Gill and Maheesh Theekshana captured the No. 1 position in the ICC ODI rankings.

Gill surpasses Babar Azam to become the no.1 ODI batter thanks to his performance against England in the recently concluded three-match ODI series at home. With scores of 87, 60, and 112, Gill averaged 86.33 in that series.

Gill now has 796 rating points, while Babar is in second place with 773 rating points. Rohit Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, and Daryl Mitchell follow Gill and Babar in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th places, respectively.

Sri Lankan skipper Charith Aslanka has gained 8 spots to sit in 8th place in the ICC ODI batter’s rankings, while Pakistan’s captain Mohammad Rizwan is in 15th place.

On the bowling side, Sri Lanka’s mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana became the No. 1 ODI bowler after his outstanding performance against Australia, helping his team whitewash the Kangaroos in the two-game ODI series. Theekshana replaced Rashid Khan, who hasn’t played a match since last December; Rashid has 669 rating points, trailing Theekshana, who has 680 rating points. Namibia’s Bernard Scholtz is in third place, and Kuldeep Yadav and Shaheen Shah Afridi are in the 4th and 5th positions.

Meanwhile, Kiwi skipper Mitchel Santner moves to No. 7 in the ODI bowling rankings thanks to his performance in the Tri-Series against Pakistan and South Africa.
