International League 2025: Dubai Capitals Wins Maiden ILT20 Title

Dubai Capitals beat Desert Vipers in a thrilling final to win their first-ever international league T20 title. Roveman Powell and Sikandar Raza finished the game for the Capitals. The match started with the Capitals choosing to field first after winning the toss.

Invited to bat first, Desert Vipers didn’t get the start that they wanted as they lost their openers for 34 runs in just 4.2 overs. Max Holden and Sam Curran steadied the ship for Vipers with fifties. Holden 76 (51) and Sam Curran 62 (33) propelled the Vipers to 189/5 in 20 overs.

Came to chase a big target of 190, Dubai Capitals got a more devastating start compared to Desert Vipers as they lost three wickets in just five overs when the score was 31 runs. However, opener Shai Hope held one side with a resilient 43 off 39 balls. But the real hero of the mighty chase of 190 was the Caribbean six-hitting machine, Rovemann Powell.

Powell was dropped by Viper’s wicketkeeper Azam Khan when the team’s total was 46/3, and the Jamaican batter made the most out of it, scoring 63 off 38 and propelling Capitals to win their first-ever ILT20 title. Sikandar Raza, 34 off 12 balls, also played a significant role in this win with a timely cameo in the end.

Because of his heroics, Rovemann Powell was named player of the match, and Desert Viper’s skipper, Sam Curran, was named player of the series. Dubai Capital’s Shai Hope was the leading run-getter of the tournament with 527 runs under his belt. Meanwhile, MI Emirates’ Fazalhaq Farooqi became the leading wicket-taking bowler of the tournament with 21 wickets.
