After the Test Series, Injuries Will Also Keep Mushfiqur Rahim and Skipper Shanto Out of ODIs Against West Indies

In an official announcement on Sunday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said that veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim and captain of the Bangladesh team Najmul Hossain Shanto will not feature in the ODI series against West Indies.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s unavailability is confirmed, but Santo’s participation is still doubtful. Santo’s availability depends on whether Bangladesh’s skipper recovers from his injury and passes the fitness test in the next 12 days.

Mushfiqur hurt the tip of his left index finger while wicketkeeping during Afghanistan’s innings in the first match of the three-game ODI series in the United Arab Emirates. The X-ray taken after the game aggravated a fracture, which was expected to keep him out of action for four to six weeks.

Meanwhile, Najmul had a Grade II strain on his left groin during fielding in the very next game of the same series where Mushfiqur got injured. The scans conducted after the match showed the damage, which resulted in the inability of Shanto to participate in the Test series against the West Indies.

The West Indies vs Bangladesh ODI series will start on December 8 at Warner Park, Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.
