New Zealand Squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Sophie Devine to lead New Zealand Women’s Team for the third consecutive time in T20 World Cup

The White Ferns had announced their squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. The experienced duo of Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates will lead the New Zealand women’s team in their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. This veteran duo of Bates and Devine is set to script history in this World Cup with their record ninth straight ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

The White Ferns at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be captained by Sophie Devine. Devine will be making her ninth consecutive trip to the Women’s T20 World Cup, where she hopes to win the trophy that has eluded the team since they finished second in the competition in the 2009 and 2010 editions.

With Suzie Bates, Amelia Kerr, and Maddy Green among them, the New Zealand team boasts a wealth of expertise in explosive batting. Rosemary Mair returns to the pace attack to inject extra flair after missing the July tour of England due to a back ailment.

The other bowlers in New Zealand’s pace battery are Molly Penfold, Hannah Rowe, Jess Kerr, and Tahuhu. For UAE conditions, Leigh Kasperek, Amelia Kerr, and Fran Jonas provide additional strength to the team by forming a dangerous spin attack.

Ben Sawyer, the coach of the New Zealand Women’s Cricket Team, feels his team is well-positioned to do well at the T20 World Cup because it possesses a great blend of youth and experience.

In this Women’s T20 World Cup, New Zealand is placed in Group A with Australia, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka and will kick start their Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 journey against India on October 4th. But before that, they have to play two warm-up matches against South Africa and England.
