Will Rohit Sharma lead Team India in the ODI Series against Sri Lanka? What do reports say?

There has been continuous conjecture over the captain of Team India ahead of their tour of Sri Lanka for the T20I and ODI series. This tour will be important for India because it will be Gautam Gambhir’s debut visit as head coach of Team India

According to some sources, Gambhir requested that Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma play in the ODI match against Sri Lanka. But according to the most recent news, Rohit Sharma has accepted the head coach’s request.

The captain opener of team India will be back in action for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, according to reports from Hindustan Times. The same report also said that Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will play in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, which is set to start on September 19, despite their repeated requests for extended rests.

The ODI series against Sri Lanka is slated to start on August 2, with the second and third ODIs taking place on August 4 and 7 respectively. Sharma, who has played 159 T20 internationals, departed on a happy note after helping his country to their second T20 World Cup victory.

While speaking at an event in Dallas on Sunday night, Rohit Sharma, 37, had earlier on July 15 stated that he will play Test and ODI cricket “at least for a while.” “I just said it. I don’t look that far ahead. So clearly, you will be seeing me play at least for a while,” the former captain had said.
