Match Summary: Yesterday’s IPL Match Result CSK vs. LSG Match No. 39: Who Won Yesterday’s IPL Match?
Chennai and Lucknow were up against each other at Chennai’s home ground in match no. 39 of the 2024 Indian Premier League. Lucknow Super Gaints asked Chennai Super Kings to bat after winning the toss at jam-packed Chidambaram Stadium. Chennai’s innings started with early wickets when they lost Rahane. Captain Ruruturaj Gaikwad was in the mood last night and hitting bowlers all over the park, but fell short of partners as he was watching his partners get out at regular intervals until Shivam Dubey’s arrival at the crease. Both Dubey and Gaikwad formed a hundred-run partnership and took CSK’s score to 200 runs.
Ruturaj scored a brilliant hundred and remained not out on 108 runs in 60 balls, while Shivam Dubey scored a blistering half century 66 of 27 deliveries, and both of them propelled CSK’s total to 210/4 in 20 overs. Every LSG bowler got hammered except Matt Henry, whose economy rate was 7.00; he gave up 28 runs in his four overs and got the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane. Coming from chasing such a huge target, LSG got the worst start that they could expect when they lost De Kock without scoring a run in the third ball of the inning. Then they lost their biggest hope, KL Rahul, in the fourth over at just 33 runs.
Lucknow promoted Marcus Stoinis in the batter order in hope of a miracle, sending him to number three position and last night Stoinis lived up to their expectations. He stood on one end, not just restricting the fall of wickets from his end but also increasing the run rate. First, he formed a partnership with Devdutt Padikkal and then with Nikolas Pooran, who quickfires 34 off just 15 balls. Deepak Hooda and Stoinis finished the job for LSG and Stonis celebrated his first IPL century in style by winning the match for his team. Stonis remained not out on 124 runs and was picked for the man of the match award for his performance. From CSK’s side, Patheerana was the leading wicket taker with two wickets.
