Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 9 wickets in the final game of the three-match T20I series to clinch the series 2-1. The game was played at Rangiri Dambulla Cricket Stadium, where the West Indies decided to bat first after the coin fell in their favor. Coming to bat first the West Indies didn’t get the start they were expecting as they lost their openers in the powerplay when the score was just 42.
Shai Hope provided stability to the West Indies innings, but he was dismissed by Hasranaga on 18. From there, Roveman Powell and Gudakesh Motie provided pace to the innings, but both of them fell in the 30s, leaving the West Indies to a total of 162/8 in 20 overs. Sri Lankan openers provided their team with a fiery start with a 60-run opening stand in 5.2 overs. Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera both scored not out fifties to reach the target in the 18th over. With this win, Sri Lanka registered their first-ever T20I series victory over West Indies.
