Sir Jadeja Reached 300 Wickets Milestone in Test Cricket

In the Ind vs Ban Kanpur Test, Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Khaleel Ahmed in the 74.2 overs of Bangladesh’s 1st inning, and with this, he scalped his 300th test wicket. Jadeja is only the third left-arm spinner in test cricket to take 300 or more wickets.

With his 300th test wicket, Jadeja now joins an elite group of Indian bowlers who have taken 300 or more wickets in tests. This list includes legendary Indian cricketers Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, and his bowling partner R Ashwin. But this is not the only record that Jadeja broke after taking his 300th test wicket. Here is a list of records that Ravindra Jadeja broke on the 4th day of Ind vs Ban Test in Kanpur:

2 – The number of left-arm spinners who have taken 300 or more wickets in Test cricket before Jadeja. Daniel Vettori was the first to reach the milestone, finishing with 362 wickets, followed by Rangana Herath, who finished with 433.

7 – Jadeja has become India’s seventh Test bowler to take 300 or more wickets, joining Anil Kumble (619 wickets), R Ashwin (527 wickets), Kapil Dev (434 wickets), Harbhajan Singh (417 wickets), Zaheer Khan (311 wickets), and Ishant Sharma (311 wickets).

11 – Ravindra Jadeja has now joined the group of 11 players who have scored 3000-plus runs and taken 300-plus wickets in Test cricket. Only two Indians have done this before Jadeja: Kapil Dev and R Ashwin.

12.72 – Jadeja has a 12.72 gap between his batting and bowling averages, the second-highest among the 11 players who have scored 3000-plus runs and taken 300-plus wickets in Tests, trailing only Imran Khan, who had a difference of 14.88 between his batting and bowling averages.

19.69 – Jadeja’s difference in batting and bowling averages in the first innings of a Test is the greatest among the 15 players that have scored 1500 runs or taken 150 wickets.

20.77 – Jadeja’s bowling average in India is 20.77, the third-best among the 23 players with 200 or more wickets in home Tests. Only Muralidaran (19.56) and Fred Trueman (20.04) have higher averages at home in tests than Jadeja.
