India Women’s Cricket team captain Smriti Mandhana praised bowlers for iconic win.
India’s captain Smriti Mandhana praised the bowlers after they bowled Ireland out for a mere 131 runs, chasing the home team’s impressive total of 435/5, securing a 3-0 victory in the ODI series.
Post-match in a conference, Smriti Saaid, “I’m really pleased that all the girls got a good game-time. As much you do it in the nets, going out there and scoring runs matters the most. The 100s and 50s from the batters have been really good. I’m happy for them and the bowlers also executed their plans well.”
“Near perfect game for sure, winning the toss and going into bat and scoring 400-plus is a really good achievement. One thing is that I told the bowlers to bowl them out in the 31st over and they achieved that,” she added.
Mandhana became the fastest Indian woman to score an ODI century. Talking about the records she expressed her delight, quoted, “Yeah, definitely. I think putting 400-plus, these are really good signs for women’s cricket. I mean, I know the wicket was really good to bat on. Rajkot is always a good wicket to bat on, but really pleased with all the girls, the way they batted today. And even when they came out to bowl, I think really clinical with their performance.”
Opener Pratika Rawal also scored a century to set a new milestone, with India’s highest-ever total of 435. Yet, fellow opener and captain Mandhana revealed that it wasn’t in the plans from the start of the game.
India achieved a clean sweep against Ireland, securing a victory by 304 runs in the third and final women’s ODI on Wednesday.
