Injuries and Sri Lanka’s one-sided love affair are still growing, as the injury list of the Sri Lankan team is increasing day by day; now Pathirana and Madushanka are out of ODIs

Two more Sri Lanka fast bowlers have been injured during India’s current tour of Sri Lanka. The fast bowling duo of Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka are out of the ODI series against India due to injuries. According to reports, Matheesha Pathirana is suffering from a shoulder injury, and Dilshan Madushanka has hurt his hamstring.

These injuries are a major blow for the Sri Lankan team because Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara (both are fast bowlers) are also not available for the team due to injury and health issues.

For the time being, Sri Lanka has added uncapped right-arm seamer Mohamed Shiraz to its ODI team. Later that afternoon, Sri Lanka Cricket issued a statement confirming the addition of Eshan Malinga, a second uncapped right-arm seamer, to the squad. Three other players were put on standby: batter Kusal Perera, seamer Pramod Madushan, and spinner Jeffrey Vandersay.

“Matheesha has jarred his shoulder, and because it is the same issue that he had during the World Cup last year, they have chosen not to risk it,” Sri Lanka’s team manager Halangoda said.

Pathirana had picked up the injury while fielding in the third T20I in Pallekele and had left the field soon after before he had bowled a single delivery in that game. Meanwhile, Madushanka injured his hamstring while training, according to Halangoda. He had only played one match in the T20I series. Pathirana and Madushanka were expected to be included in the playing XI for Friday’s first ODI against India.
