The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the squad for the match test series against India, and they have made just one change to their test squad that sealed the historic clean sweep in tests against Pakistan.
The only change that Bangladesh has made to their test side that thrashed Pakistan 2-0 recently is keeper-batsman Jaker Ali Anik being called up to replace injured fast bowler Shoriful Islam for the critical Test series against India.
In Shoriful’s absence, Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, and Khaled Ahmed comprise Bangladesh’s pace attack. Selector Hannan Sarkar stated that Shoriful’s groin issue kept him out of the team and that the additional batter was included to account for Indian conditions.
Jaker Ali has not yet participated in an ODI or Test match, but since making his T20I debut in the Asian Games, he has played 17 T20Is for Bangladesh. Having participated in 49 first-class matches, he has four hundred and an average of 41.47.
Opening batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who missed the Pakistan Tests owing to a groin niggle sustained during the four-day games between Pakistan A and Bangladesh A in preparation for the Test series against Pakistan. However, Shadman Islam’s outstanding performance in the first Test in Rawalpindi could maintain him ahead of Mahmudul Hasan Joy to start Bangaldesh’s inning alongside Zakir Hasan.
September 19 marks the start of the first Test match against India in Chennai, while September 27 marks the start of the second match in Kanpur. Both matches are part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle, with India presently leading the standings and Bangladesh in fourth place following their recent series victory over Pakistan.
