The prize money for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates next month, has been revealed by the ICC. The 2024 edition’s total prize money has been increased by the ICC to 7,958,080 US dollars, more than twice as much as that of the 2023 edition. With this huge rise, the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 winners will take home an incredible 2.34 million US dollars, which is a 134% increase from the $1 million given to the winners, Australia, in 2023.
In the 2024 edition, the runners-up will also get the benefits of a 134% increase, earning 1.17 million US dollars. Each of the semi-finalists will get 675,000 US dollars, which is more than three times their prize money from 2023. Beyond the knockout stages, each group stage winner will now get 31,154 US dollars in prize money, a 78% increase over the 17,500 US dollars awarded in the previous year.
Teams that are unable to pass group stages won’t go away without anything, either. Each of the ten competing teams will receive a base price of 112,500 US dollars, for a total of 1.125 million US dollars. This guarantees that all teams, regardless of their final standing, will receive significant recognition for their involvement.
Teams in fifth through eighth place will split 270,000 US dollars each, while those in ninth and tenth place will split 135,000 US dollars each. These modifications demonstrate the ICC’s dedication to developing and promoting women’s cricket while making sure that all teams and players receive enough support.
This record prize payout not only advances the Women’s T20 World Cup’s standing as one of the calendar’s top events, but it also supports the ICC’s goal of gender balance in sports. The event is scheduled to begin on October 3. A small alteration has been made to the Saturday, October 5, doubleheader program in Sharjah. Australia will now face Sri Lanka at 2:00 p.m. local time, followed by Bangladesh vs England at 6:00 p.m. local time.
As the top teams in the world compete for the coveted title and record-breaking rewards, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is poised to be a historic occasion. From October 3 to October 20, the eagerly awaited ninth edition of the competition will be held in the UAE, with Dubai and Sharjah hosting all matches.
Before October 15th, all group matches will be over, and attention will turn to the semi-finals, which are set for October 17th and 18th. On October 20, the winners of the first and second semi-finals will square off in the final match for the Women’s T20 World Cup trophy.
