England defeated West Indies by 3 wickets in the 3rd T20I of the ongoing T20I series to get an unbeatable lead of 3-0. This thriller took place at Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia, where England won the toss and put West Indies to bat first. Despite England’s invitation to bat, English bowlers, especially pacers, didn’t let the West Indies bat, as West Indies lost half of their team in the powerplay. At the end of the powerplay, the West Indies were reeling at 39/5.
At one time crossing the 100 runs mark was looking like a herculean task for West Indies, but skipper Roveman Powel and Romario Shepherd joined hands and rescued West Indies. At the time of Powell’s arrival to the crease, West Indies were 37/5, and when Powell left the pitch, the Caribbean team was 113/8 in 17.1 overs. Romario Shepherd played the supporting partner’s role; he played a 30-run inning and stitched a 73-run partnership with the skipper to take West Indies to a respectable total.
Thanks to Powell and Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph’s late cameo of 21 off 19, West Indies managed a respectable total of 145/8. Came to chase an easy-looking 146-run target, England too didn’t get a great start, as they lost Phil Salt, Josh Buttler, and Jacob Bethell in the powerplay. After six overs, England was 42/3 with Will Jacks and Sam Curran at the crease.
Will Jacks and Curran provided stability to the shaky innings of West Indies, but after the dismissal of these two batters, England faced a mini-collapse. However, Livingstone managed to secure one end and took England to the finishing line. Although he was dismissed on 142 in 18.2 overs just before reaching the target in 19.2 overs.
