After a week-long suspension because of cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the IPL 2025 will recommence on May 17 with the last match on June 3, according to the revised schedule issued Tuesday by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament will now conclude at six venues — Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, meaning that three franchises – PBKS, CSK, and SRH – do not have home-ground advantages. CSK and SRH have already been eliminated from the playoffs, but PBKS, who is currently third with 15 points from 11 games, is the biggest loser in the revised fixture list.
The BCCI has reiterated that the schedule was finalized after “extensive consultations with government and security agencies, along with all key stakeholders.” The resumption means a condensed dash to the finale of IPL 2025, with 17 matches (including 13 league games and four playoffs) scheduled in a period of 18 days. There will be two double-header Sundays, May 18 and May 25.

Foreign Player Availability Concerns
The revised dates now clash with the England vs West Indies ODI series, which begins on May 29. Several IPL stars are affected:
- West Indies Players: Romario Shepherd (RCB), Shamar Joseph (LSG), Sherfane Rutherford (GT)
- England Players (potentially): Jos Buttler (GT), Phil Salt, Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone (all RCB), Will Jacks, Reece Topley (both MI)
Additionally, the IPL final on June 3 leaves a narrow seven-day window before the World Test Championship (WTC) final between Australia and South Africa begins on June 11 at Lord’s. Players such as Pat Cummins, Travis Head (SRH), Mitchell Starc, Tristan Stubbs (DC), Josh Hazlewood (RCB), Marco Jansen, Josh Inglis (PBKS), Aiden Markram (LSG), Kagiso Rabada (GT), Ryan Rickelton (MI), and Kwena Mphaka (RR) could all be impacted.
The IPL’s new timeline also overlaps with the India A tour of England, which begins on May 30, potentially affecting several fringe Indian players still active in the IPL.
