South African Batter Rassie van der Dussen Hints that Champions Trophy Might be His Last Tournament

Rassie van der Dussen is considering the possibility that the Champions Trophy 2025 will be his final multi-team competition.

Van der Dussen turned 36 earlier this month and currently only plays ODIs for South Africa, although having been capped in all three, he has accepted that his time with the squad may be coming to an end.

Since 2019, van der Dussen has been South Africa’s most consistent No. 3, and for good reason: he has the third-highest ODI batting average and has established a reputation for dependability. However, during the last year, that has begun to weaken.

Van der Dussen had not scored a half-century in ten innings before his fifty against Afghanistan, and it had been thirteen innings since his last century.

Despite his desire to bid goodbye to shorter formats of the game, he has clearly mentioned that he will be fighting for his spot in the team in red ball cricket.
