Mohammad Salahuddin Has Become The New Assistant Coach of Bangladesh

Appoints Mohammad Salahuddin to Bangladesh Cricket Board as their senior assistant coach on the 5th of November; contract is until March 15 next year, following recently appointed head coach Phil Simmons. The first task to come before him would more likely be Bangladesh’s tour of the West Indies.

It is his second tenure as assistant coach of Bangladesh. Earlier, he was Bangladesh’s assistant and fielding coach when Dav Whatmore and Jamie Siddons were the head coach of Bangladesh. He had been a specialist coach at BCB’s national cricket academy from 2010-2011. Later in 2014, he became the head coach of Singapore.

Salahuddin is a great cricket voice in Bangladesh and recently went through an on-and-off relationship with BCB. He had been appointed the batting consultant for 2017; however, at the last minute, he was not selected by the BCB.

He is the right man for the assistant coach’s position as reflected by his CV and most of the Bangladeshi players respect him highly for his efforts to bring up the young talents.

Salahuddin began his coaching career by nurturing players like Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, who are now considered legends of Bangladesh cricket. He is continuing his job of providing talented cricketers to Bangladesh, as he has an important role in the development of talented youngsters like Jaker Ali and Mahidul Islam Ankon.

So it can be expected that during Salahuddin’s reign as the assistant coach, Bangladesh will be able to nurture its youngsters to become players who can carry the team on their shoulders.
