England adds Jordan Cox (Wk batter) and Reham Ahmed (wrist spinner) to their ODI and T20I squads for the West Indies Tour, which will start next Thursday. Both Cox and Ahmed are part of England’s current test squad that is playing against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. Jordan Cox will fly to Antigua on Monday; meanwhile, Rehan is expected to arrive on Wednesday.
The Essex wicketkeeper-batter Jordan Cox would likely miss T20Is on the Caribbean tour because of the New Zealand Test Series, which closely follows England’s West Indies tour. Cox has already earned the T20I cap for England against Australia in the recently concluded T20I series, and now has a chance to make his ODI debut in the 1st ODI against the West Indies due to Jos Buttler’s unavailability.
Jordan Cox’s test debut is almost certain because England’s current Test wicketkeeper Jamie Smith is set to miss at least one test in New Zealand due to personal reasons.
Rehan Ahmed is part of England’s playing XI in the third Test at Rawalpindi, so he can’t play in ODIs, but he will be available for T20Is. Liam Livingston will lead the squad in the absence of Jos Buttler in ODIs. Buttler, who is expected to be fit before the T20Is, will lead the team in the shortest format.
