IPL 2025 Retention: Chennai Still Waiting for MS Dhoni’s Conformation to Feature in IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings haven’t announced yet their retention list because they are waiting for MS Dhoni’s confirmation to play IPL 2025. Dhoni hasn’t confirmed yet whether he will feature in the next IPL season or not. Due to this, CSK hasn’t released their retention players list as they want to keep Dhoni as an uncapped player under the new IPL 2025 retention rule for uncapped players.

Speaking on Dhoni’s availability in IPL 2025 CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan revealed that Dhoni has not confirmed his decision to play IPL 2025 but has promised to inform us before the retention deadline of October 31.

“We want Dhoni to play for CSK, but he hasn’t confirmed it yet. He said, ‘I’ll let you know before October 31.’ We’re hopeful he will play,” Viswanathan said at an event.

October 31st is the last date for IPL franchisees to submit their list of retained players from the current squad. Thanks to the IPL 2025 mega auction retention rules Chennai Super Kings now has the option to retain Dhoni as an uncapped player, which will save a huge amount from their auction purse.
