Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana to Leave Women’s T20 World Cup after Father’s Death

Pakistan Women’s team’s captain, Fatima Sana, will leave Dubai on the next available flight following her father’s death in Karachi on Thursday. The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, issued a statement expressing his great grief and sorrow over the death of Fatima Sana’s father. The players and management of the Pakistan women’s cricket team have also expressed their condolences and offered their support to Sana at this tough time.

Sana is the captain of Pakistan’s squad in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE. At 22, she is also the tournament’s youngest captain. She has set the tone with her leadership throughout the game, earning Player of the Match honors in Pakistan’s opening triumph over Sri Lanka. Over two matches, she scored 43 runs and got four wickets.

Senior batter Muneeba Ali will take her place in the team; however, Pakistan can face leadership issues in this World Cup following Sana’s departure.
