58 Runs: Virat Kohli is on the Verge of Breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s Another Record

In the 1st test match of the India vs Bangladesh Test Series, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli, who is on the brink of breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s another record. When India is up against Bangladesh on 19 September in Chennai, Virat Kohli will be chasing another feat to add to his illustrious career.

Virat Kohli is just 58 runs away from breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of the fastest to reach 27,000 runs in international cricket. Sachin achieved this milestone in 623 innings (226 Test innings, 396 ODI innings, 1 T20I innings). On the other hand, Kohli had played 591 innings across formats and scored 26942 runs so far.

Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar have frequently been compared, despite the former’s insistence that the latter is unrivaled. In terms of the total amount of centuries, Kohli trails only Tendulkar (100) with 80 international tons.

With his retirement from T20 internationals, this is a chance for Virat Kohli’s fans to be able to watch the 35-year-old superstar play cricket to its fullest in the twilight period of his career.

If Kohli scores 58 more runs in his next eight innings, as appears likely, he will become the first cricketer in the 147-year history of international cricket to surpass 27,000 runs in less than 600 innings. Aside from Tendulkar, the only other players with over 27,000 runs in international cricket are Ricky Ponting of Australia and Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka.
