According to a report published by PTI (Press Trust of India), New ICC Chairman Jay Shah will be replaced by PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) Chief Mohsin Naqvi at ACC (Asian Cricket Council).
As per this report, Mohsin Naqvi will become the new ACC President after Jay Shah, the sitting president of ACC, has to vacate his position. Naqvi’s tenure will be two years, and he has been selected because Jay Shah has to leave his position at ACC as he has become the ICC Chairman.
“When the ACC meets later this year, it will confirm that Naqvi will be the next president for a two-year term.” PTI quoted this regarding Naqvi’s selection for ACC’s president’s post.
Jay Shah presided over the ACC for four years, having been granted a one-year term extension after his first three-year tenure. Shah is expected to take over as the head of the ICC overall after winning the post without any opposition in August.
Overseeing the Asia Cup in 2025, which will be hosted in India, Naqvi’s two-year mandate will be crucial to the ACC’s future ambitions. Naqvi will be involved in the ICC Champions Trophy, which will take place in his home country of Pakistan in 2025, as president of the ACC and head of the PCB.
Naqvi was chosen to lead the PCB in February 2024 and began serving as Pakistan’s interior minister in March of the same year. His appointment to the ACC presidency would be his third significant position in the same year.
